What is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film protects a cars paint from troublesome stone chips, the weather elements and key scratches with an invisible layer of plastic film. Investing in this protective plastic armour is a proven way to protect your cherished possession from unwanted scratches or ‘love marks’ (this happens when a car is washed with a not-so-clean sponge).

Why Should I use Paint Protection Film?

Typically, paint protection is used as it’s the best way to protect your cars paintwork from external marring, scratches and swirls. If you are going on a road trip and don’t want to have a full detail service performed to remove bug splatters on the front bumper, PPF is the best solution available on the market. Stone chips can also be troublesome when going on long drives and can be very costly to repair, so invest some time in considering PPF, it truly is the most practical option.

How to maintain paint protection film?

Paint protection film should be cared for in the same exact way as the factory paint of a car usually is. Typically, we advise on the following these steps:

Dingxin Films Tip: Before you start; Always use clean tools; anything that touches the surface of the vehicle should be squeaky clean.

1. Start with the wheels as spray will often reach the vehicles paintwork. Rinse, wash and agitate with different sized wheel brushes.

2. Thoroughly jet-wash each panel of the car starting from the top, working down.

3. The fun part: snow foam application – leave to dwell for a few minutes or as per manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Repeat stage 2: Thoroughly jet-wash each panel of the car starting from the top, working down.

5. Using the ever so popular two bucket method, start washing each panel with your preferred washing sponge, taking care not to apply too much pressure on the paintwork.

6. Repeat stage 2: Thoroughly jet-wash each panel of the car starting from the top, working down.

7. Use an iron spray remover (leave to dwell until you see the particles reacting on the paintwork) and jet wash the panels once again.

8. Now, another very fun stage: the clay bar! Make sure each panel is lubricated sufficiently. Dingxin Films Tip: Work in small sections of the car and always go horizontal or vertical, never in circles!

9. The final rinse – nearly there! Work from top to bottom once again.

10. We typically use air drying tools to push trapped water out of the little nooks and crannies but if you don’t have this, be patient and use a good quality drying cloth.
